The Kano State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of Shu’aibu Abdulkadir, a 35-year-old suspect, in connection with the murder of Rumaisa Haruna, a 22-year-old housewife attacked in her matrimonial home in Tsamiyar Duhuwa, Kano. The confirmation was made in a press statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, via his verified Facebook page.

Details of the Incident:

According to the police statement, the victim was found with deep neck injuries by her husband, Ibrahim Mohammed, on April 6, 2025. She was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Following an investigation led by the State Criminal Investigation Department, assisted by intelligence-led technical operations, the suspect was apprehended on May 23, 2025. During interrogation, Abdulkadir confessed to trespassing into the victim’s residence, strangling her, and stabbing her in the neck with a knife, leading to her death.

“Swift justice is not only about punishing offenders — it reassures a wounded community and restores public trust in law enforcement.”

What the Police Are Saying:

The Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, commended the police detectives for their professionalism in swiftly tracking down the suspect. He reaffirmed the Command’s unwavering commitment to justice and public safety and called on residents to promptly report suspicious activities to law enforcement agencies.

What’s Next:

The suspect, currently in custody, is assisting with further investigations. The Kano State Police Command has announced that he will be formally charged in court upon the conclusion of investigations. The Command has again urged the public to support law enforcement with timely intelligence to prevent similar tragedies.

Why It Matters:
