The Corporate Affairs Commission has issued a public notice warning registered companies and members of the public against fraudulent calls, messages, and emails falsely claiming to originate from the Commission.
According to the notice, the Commission has received reports of individuals impersonating its officials and requesting disclosure of company information or directing recipients to download mobile applications purportedly linked to CAC services. The Commission stated that such communications are not authorised and do not emanate from its official channels.
The CAC clarified that it does not request customers to download mobile applications, nor does it solicit confidential company details through unsolicited telephone calls, SMS, WhatsApp messages, or emails. The notice formally disassociates the Commission from these communications and identifies them as fraudulent.
The public notice was issued by the Management of the Commission and is intended to guide registered entities on the authenticity of communications received in the course of corporate compliance and registry interactions.
What Next
The notice indicates that recipients of suspicious communications may report such incidents to the Commission or relevant law enforcement agencies, as appropriate.
